Only two things I can suggest: 1) Try the standard Transform (Ctrl + T) It frequently does a decent job of anti-aliasing the final project if it's not too extreme a change. 2) Before copying and pasting, resize the small image using Image Size. If you still can't get a clean transition, you're pretty much out of luck.
