Hi Tom. This sounds like a very weird problem. I can only think of one thing that could be the cause. When you put in text, there's a little T at the top of the screen, sitting on a curved arrow. It's called "create warped text". Is it possible that you've got this set to something unusual? If this isn't the solution, try putting in text on a different image, and see if the same problem occurs.
