Hi, Thank you for responding. The slime area had the marching ants completely around it, and I can apply the clouds with no problem. The problem comes when I try to apply drop shadow, bevel, etc. When I apply the effects, it doesn't take hold on the selected area, but the entire image. In other words, the image that I created, rather than the selected part of that image. Thanks. BTW...this is a great site. I've learned a lot over just a few days :)
