Hi Jack :) To select a rounded box area, choose the Shape Tool (must have Photoshop 6, 7, or CS) and choose Polygon. Choose the Rounded Rectangle option. There will be three little boxes at the top left of the screen. Make sure you have the "Paths" option selected, not the "Filled Region" option. Then, draw your rectangle. A "path" (line) will appear. Choose the Pen Tool, and right-click on your area. Then right-click on the paht, and choose "Make Selection."
