Hi Jennifer. I don't think the Gradient Tool can be applied to a path. An option wou might want to try is to create a regular Radial Gradient, and then use the Twirl filter, on the Filter menu. The only problem I can see is that if you're using the colours of the gradient to represent any kind of numerical data, it's going to be very hard to see where one colour ends and another one begins.
