Yes, there's a big difference between fixed (pixel) sizes and variable (percentage) sizes. The pixel sizes will always be the same size, in terms of the number of pixels they span. Percentage sizes will always adjust to the size of the screen. This is okay if you have things that can expand and contract easily, like text, or a cell with a tiled background. Download and have a look at my Desert Star template. Its main table is set to 100% width, so it fills up the screen. However, there's a repeating background in there, which will fill up that variable amount of space. I don't recommend using percentage widths unless you know exactly what you're doing. Just use exact pixel widths for now, starting with a 779 pixel wide table. (This allows 21 pixels for the vertical scrollbar.)
